Ndimaini - Kenya

Ndimaini - Kenya

Firstly its worth mentioning that Coffee co-ops are much larger in Kenya than anywhere else in Africa, Washing stations process far more coffee than the average mill in Ethiopia. That being said traceabiltiy is really high, though due to the overall great quality of coffee going through the mill sorting is limited to screen size and only really special coffee is sold as micro-lots.

Ndimiani comes from a co-op in Nyeri called GAKUYU FARMERS COOPERATIVE SOCIETY, made up of anywhere between 900 - 1500 prodcucers (depending of harvest).

Farmers selectively hand pick red ripe cherries that are delivered for wet milling the same day. Cherry sorting is carried out at the wet mill prior to the pulping .The parchment is then fermented, washed and sun dried slowly on raised platforms where the moisture content is reduced . Dry parchment is then delivered to dry mills for secondary processing

This Coffee is a little cleaner than the Kenyans we had in the past, boasting a Guatamalen like acidity with only a hint of that classsic Kenyan fermenty sweetness.

We really hope you enjoy this coee as much as we do!!
